
50 Days Until the 19th FIG World Cup in Artistic Gymnastics
March 26, 2025For the eighth consecutive year, Koper will host the most prestigious gymnastics competition in Slovenia – the 19th FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Challenge Cup. The first rays of summer, the scent of the sea, and a city rich in cultural heritage attract numerous gymnasts from all over the world to Slovenia’s largest coastal city.
With 53,292 inhabitants, Koper will be once again dressed in gymnastics colors from May 15 to 18, 2025, as it welcomes top-level athletes from across the globe. In the past, medalists from European and World Championships as well as Olympic champions have competed here. This year, too, thrilling battles for medals await us in Arena Bonifika.
The first edition of the World Challenge Cup took place in 2004 in Maribor as a preview to the European Championships held in Ljubljana the same year. The event then moved to the Slovenian capital for a few years. Today, Koper proudly holds the title of the permanent home of the FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Challenge Cup in Slovenia. A city which roots are trace back to the Middle Bronze Age (around 1500 BC), Koper owns a rich history – much like Slovenian gymnastics. From legendary names such as Leon Štukelj, Miroslav Cerar, Mitja Petkovšek, Aljaž Pegan, and Sašo Bertoncelj to the new generation of athletes who will once again showcase their skills in Arena Bonifika and compete for medals.
Koper, now recognized by its symbol – the golden sun – was once an island and is today the fifth-largest city in Slovenia. It is known for its rich history, vibrant atmosphere, and picturesque green surroundings. You are welcome to witness the biggest gymnastics spectacle in Slovenia and experience the magic of Koper!
