Slovenian Gymnastics Federation as the organiser of the FIG World Challenge Cup Koper has been doing sustainable activities within our event for several years now. In 2025, we have united all sustanability activities under one roof, under the brand Koper GOES. The brand covers all different activities that address goals:

  • Pursuit of goals of sustainable development goals as the Slovenian Gymnastic Federation and implemented sustainability mechanisms (SDG Goals as set by the United Nations),
  • Pursuit of goals of sustainable management goals of the Slovenian Gymnastic Federation and implemented mechanisms (ESG Goals as set by the investor-driven framework for evaluating corporate responsibility and sustainability).

With the sustainability brand Koper GOES we have created various activities that all originate from the verb “to go” which indicates being active, not passive. We tackle on the challenges we can, within our scope, address and we do our part one little step at the time. Below you will be able to find different activites related to the sustanability efforts we try to make.

Koper GOES "BYOB - Bring Your Own Bottle"

Before coming to Koper for the 18th World Challenge Cup in Artistic Gymnastcs we have invited the participants to join our initiative “BYOB – Bring Your Own Bottle”. We asked them to come to Koper with their own water bottles. This way we have achieved two goals:

  1. We reduced the amount of single-use plastic bottles.
  2. We educated the teams from outside of Slovenia that our tap water is safe to drink, which is a huge luxury we have in our country.

Come join us in making Koper World Challenge Cup an event, kind to the environment!

Koper GOES Gender Equal

There are two very important gender equality aspects of the events:

  • equality within the competition,
  • equality within the organisational structure.

Within competition that means that prize money is equal for male and female competitiors and that we as the organiser of the World Artistic Gymnastics Challenge Cup organise at the competition all male and female Olympic events, omitting only male and female all-around competitions, which are competed at separate World Cups.

Within organisational structure that means we have both male and female members of the Local Organising Committee, on all levels of the organisational structure. The team is put together based solely on merit.

Koper GOES Local

After the delegates meeting and at the banquet we organised a Slovenian Night event where we did a presentation and of course tasting of traditional Slovenian cusine. They had the opportunity to try the Potica cake, Teran wine and Carniolan sausage. Having heard only compliments about the food we were able to have the night declared as a successful one and we are planning on doing a similar familiarization with the Slovenina culture in the future as well.

Koper GOES on Public Transport

Each year, we prepare a guide for everyone planning to attend the biggest gymnastics competition in Slovenia, showing them how they can be sustainable and get the most out of their experience.

Last year we gathered all the different proposals in an article titled “Coming to Koper? Make sure you’re doing it sustainably!“.

Last year, Teja Belak and her family traveled to Koper by train, while the head coach of the men’s national team arrived in Koper by bicycle.

Koper GOES Responsible

2025 will be the year of our third sustainability report for the FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Challenge Cup.

Each year we reflect on what the impact of our competition was and try to find solutions on how to do better next year.

For the 20th edition of the competition in 2026 we plan on adopting a sustainability strategy with an official commitment to follow the principles of sustainable event management.

Koper GOES Inclusive

The World Artistic Gymnastics Challenge Cup competition is only one of the activities the Slovenian Gymnastics Federation does for the promotion and growth of the popularity of gymnastics in Slovenia.

As the World Challenge Cup is a great way to get excited by gymnastics, we offer free of charge entry to the competition to all who are registered with the Sloveninan Gymnastics Federation (athletes, coaches, judges, delegatest, …).
